More and more people are turning their digital cameras into more than just a great way to display pics online to Facebook and such. Now, with the emergence of digital frames, we have more choices than ever when it comes to displaying our favorite memorable moments. If you’re still struggling with how to get your images onto your frame, here’s some easy help to smooth the way for you.

Sandisk SD Memory Card
Memory cards come in a wide variety of formats, but most high quality digital frames are able to take the standard formats such as those used by your digital camera. You will want to make sure that the frame you have chosen accepts the same format of memory card that your camera uses, but even if it does not you can still find adapters that help you load the images onto the frame. This is the most common storage method and transfer method used in digital frames today. Many memory cards have high capacity storage that will allow you to save hundreds or even thousands of images so you can take them on and off the frame’s internal memory without hassle whenever you like just by popping the card into your frame.
With internal memory you are making use of the digital frame’s built-in memory so you still have your photos on it even if you remove any memory cards. Usually, the software running the frame itself will compress the images to make them fit your frame perfectly without altering the photo. Depending upon your frame’s storage capacity you will be able to store a different number of images, but you can put them on in a variety of ways. Some frames accept RSS feed, others load via e-mail and there are models that utilize more than just memory cards from your digital camera, such as USB or even wireless connections.
With wireless capacity, your frame will be able to accept and send images without any sort of cords. You normally need a network card for your home or office network or a compatible router. Some digital cameras are now wireless and will be able to send directly to your phone, as well. Simply connect to your frame via wifi and send!

DIY Digital Picture Frame?
Is it possible to make a DIY digital picture frame? Yes it is! In fact, it is a great project to make, especially if you want to bring your old notebook or laptop back to life. Obviously, you need an old laptop or notebook and some tools that you will use to disassemble your old unit. You also need a touch screen, two small pieces of plexiglass, bunch of screws that fit the motherboard of your laptop, and other screws.
After getting all tools and materials ready, you can now proceed to creating a great DIY digital picture frame. To start, disassemble your laptop, but make sure to keep the usable parts. Keep the motherboard, RAM, CPU, and card slots that come with it.
Line up the two small pieces of plexiglass. Drill 4 holes to hold the plexiglass together. When the two pieces of plexiglass are in place, attach the touch screen and LCD to each piece of plexiglass on two opposite sides using a double-sided tape. Make sure that the touch screen is properly mounted so you can use it.
Mount the motherboard at the center of the 2nd plexiglass and mark a spot to drill the holes needed to mount the motherboard in place. Make sure that the motherboard is aligned with the LCD. Drill the 4 holes and mount the mother board.
After the motherboard is mounted, you can now determine where you need to place the power button. Drill a small hole on the place. Attach the VGA cable into your motherboard. Insert your WiFi card and mount it using your thumb screws.
Plug the USB cable from your touch screen into the USB port. Now that the installation is complete, can you now use your DIY digital picture frame? Yes of course! Plug it into an AC power supply. Turn it on and enjoy!

The Pandigital PAN7004MU01 7-Inch Multi Frame Collage Digital Picture Frame is rather unique in that it has several areas for your pictures to show. The good news is that you can get this digital collage frame really cheap these days.
You should note, though, that there’s only one 7 inch digital display. The other slots hold normal printed photos. The horizontal opening in the upper right is 7″x5″ while the two verticals are 4×6. This should help you decide if it’s going to be the right photo frame for you.
The internal memory isn’t that much to be honest, but it does take SD memory cards, which means you can load it up with photos. It would be really cool if they came out with a collage frame that was all digital – maybe there’s one out there. I’ll have to look.
In the meantime, this is a pretty cool way to display normal printed photos and all your favorite digital pics. The price is reasonable and there haven’t been too many complaints about this digital photo frame around the Internet, so it looks like a good bet that this one will fit your needs well.
If you have it, we’d love to hear what you think – good or bad!
