MemoryVue Doesn’t Capture the Magic

With a sleek, modern design and feel, the Digital Spectrum MemoryVue MV-1700 is superficially everything the digital photographer could ask for.

However, several problems in the design make for a sub par user performance that could make you regretting your investment.

Admittedly, it’s easy to be swayed by any one of these amazing features:

  • The crisp and vibrant colors presented on the 17″ TFT screen with a 1280 x 1024 resolution that turn your family photos into digital works of art
  • Its compatibility with several different memory card devies as well as JPEG, MP3, and MPEG video files to maximize your usage potential
  • A fun audio slideshow option that allows for hours of entertaining viewing of all of your favorite pictures
  • The included remote control that allows for great control over the slideshow and various other menu options

All that being said, many consumers feel that the overall performance of the product doesn’t live up to its potential, citing shoddy craftsmanship and often a bad display. The included instruction manual is rather complex and badly written, leaving some people trying to pick up the frame’s quirks without much hope of enlightenment.

The slideshow function, which should be a fun bonus, ends up being repeating the same photos over and over again instead of offering a randomized feature. Overall, most consumers just don’t feel like they’re getting the potential that all of those great features add up to. If you’re willing to take a gamble, you probably won’t find another digital frame in the same size for such an affordable price as the Digital Spectrum MemoryVue MV-1700.
