Disassemble a Kodak Picture Frame

Before ever thinking of disassembling a Kodak picture frame, it is important to check the warranty first before doing this to make sure that it is no longer applicable. Tampering with the digital picture frame is likely to void the warranty so the above action is not recommended unless you are ready to lose what you have invested in this product.

First of all, the digital picture frame is actually a simple computer and has the following components:

  • The central processing unit or CPU that has the job of transferring pictures and displaying them on the screen
  • ROM memory for the operating system
  • Flash memory for storing the images, part of the OS and the settings
  • embedded OS
  • user-operated controls such as buttons for changing display characteristics, turning on the frame, and activating file sharing
  • multimedia software, such as Windows Media Player
  • USB interface
  • Compact Flash slots
  • SD slots

If you want to disassemble the Kodak picture frame for curiosity’s sake, this is not to be recommended. In fact, whatever reason you may have for doing this, disassembling the picture frame is not a wise move. It would be better to allow an expert computer technician to do this because this is actually a computer.

Besides, it would require a computer expert to perform the repair if your product is not working properly. Certain parts of a computer are very sensitive and even static charge from your skin can damage them. And even if you believe that the problem with your digital picture frame is a minor one, disassembling the unit could cause the problem to get worse. It is better to consult somebody who is qualified to conduct the repair to avoid wasting the money that you used to purchase the picture frame.

All that said, you may be interested in disassembling the Kodak picture frame for other reasons – such as hacking your own digital picture frame. If that’s the case, we’d like to hear more about you if you’ve tried this. Leave a comment below!

HUH? How NOT to disassemble a Kodak Picture Frame! No pictures, no steps, no help! I just took it apart, took me 5 minutes. A small phillips screwdriver, and a small slotted screwdriver. Pushed a few tabs in….done. Yup, ripped it apart. The blue/green color is inop. Just red working. Wanted to see what was under the hood. Not much. Really would be nice if you offered a schematic! Thanks for absolutely nothing. This site was absolutely useless.
